It is believed that overtone or throat singing originated in Mongolia. By manipulating resonant cavities of the mouth while toning, magical bell like etheric sounds can be heard, apparently creating more than one pitch at the same time. This can be very relaxing and healing and studies seem to suggest the possibility of positive health benefits from overtoning. I learnt my particular form, Khoomii, from shaman/teacher and one of the worlds best exponents of harmonic singing Jill Purce (www.healingvoice.com). This recording is in no way meant to represent the beautiful culture from which it is inspired, but is a facsimile, with deep respect. It is however a powerful meditation tool. The CD contains one continuous track of approx 20 mins.
